COMING TO CHURCH
ATTENDING CHURCH - What to expect in 2020
What a year 2020 has been so far! With the ever-changing guidelines, here is the place with the latest information about attending church during this season and what to expect.
As things continue to change, we will be re-assessing and adjusting our practices for a Sunday to ensure everyone's safety. We trust our leaders, and are determined to honour them. We will continue to follow our government’s guidance as they lead us through the route map measures.
As of the 15th July 2020 places of worship have been able to open for corporate worship, with restrictions in place.
The current restrictions in place mean that this will feel different from how it was before, and how it will be in the future - but we know there is something special about God’s people gathering together in the same place, and we are excited to see how God will draw worship out of us in new ways - both in the room, and online.
A key detail is that numbers in our building are currently restricted to 50 maximum. For this reason, if you would like to attend church in person over the coming weeks, we need you to fill out a short survey letting us know when you would be available to come.
We know most people will still be joining us online. If you are nervous about gathering, shielding, or particularly vulnerable - please watch online! We’re so thankful we can continue to live stream our services, and provide prayer ministry and all the extras for you at home.
WHAT WILL IT LOOK LIKE FOR THOSE WHO MEET IN THE BUILDING?
We will need you to arrive 15 minutes early, to join a (socially distanced) queue outside.
You’ll need to bring your own mask, and wear it while inside the building.
We will check you in using Church Suite, our online register system. All members of each party must be registered in Church Suite prior to attending on a Sunday, you can submit these details via the attendance survey.
Our host team will give a warm welcome, and help you find a seat. Everyone will strictly adhere to social distancing guidelines.
Church will begin right on time!
Only the worship leader will be able to sing, and they will be behind a perspex screen. Those of us in the room will worship wholeheartedly and creatively - but without singing. Bring a journal if you’d like! We’re excited to see how God will reveal new ways to worship Him through this season.
For now, there won’t be prayer ministry in the room - but you can still access it online via your phone!
Toilets will be for emergency use only.
We won’t encourage mingling inside the building, and won’t have donuts or hot drinks. We do however encourage you to visit a local spot for a takeaway coffee after the service if you fancy, or (following the rules!) go for a walk, visit a local park etc.
We’ll collect shares before the service begins, and you can continue to email them in, but we won’t pass the share mic around.
Kids ministry is now available at the morning service only. Again you can register to attend via the church attendance survey.
If you feel unwell in any way, please stay home and join us online!
WHAT ABOUT CHURCH ONLINE?
Our morning and evening services will be live streamed at their usual times! All of the online service features will continue as normal. We know this is where most people will be, and it will continue to be our focus! We’re so thankful for this incredible resource and means of worshipping together.
HOW WILL I KNOW I HAVE A SPACE AT THE SERVICE?
Confirmation invites for each Sunday service are emailed out on the Thursday prior to each Sunday, so keep an eye on your inbox! To date, we’ve been able to make space for everyone who has registered in advance - but things have been ‘filling’ up (to our 50 person limit!)
If people register interest after spaces have been allocated on Thursday, we operate a reserve list through the attendance survey and we’ll do our best to allocate space on the Sunday morning itself. Those on the reserve list will be contacted before 10am via email on the Sunday if there is space available.
With this in mind, if your availability changes at any point from what you have submitted, or if you can no longer attend the service you have been confirmed for, please email us as soon as you can and this means we will be able to re-allocate your space with more time to spare!
